Abstract

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of letrozole and clomiphene on polycystie ovarian syndrome( PCOS). Methods Seventy- two patients with PCOS were randomly divided into observation group and control group,with36 patients in each group. The patients in control group were treated by clomiphene, however, the patients in observation group were treated by letrozole. The ovulation induction effect and reproductive hormone levels were observed and compared between the two groups. Results The thickness of endometrium, ovulation rate and cycle pregnancy rate in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group( P 0. 05). The serum levels of FSH in observation group were significantly higher than those of control group( P 0. 01),however,estradiol levels in observation group were obviously lower than those in control group( P 0. 01). Conclusion As compared with clomiphene, letrozole has higher ovulation rate, cycle pregnancy rate and thickness of endometrium, which can increase FSH levels and reduce estradiol levels, with less adverse effects.
