Abstract
In early 1929, the leadership of the Fourth Red Army adopted a military strategy of rescueby-side-attack in hope to break the siege of Kuomintang Army in Jiangxi and Hunan Provinces. Such a decision was made in consideration of the server economic difficulties in the Revolutionary Base and unprecedented military setbacks that the Army had encountered. However, due to the extraordinary military force gaps between the Red Army and their enemy, local natural condition limits and the Army's errors, such a strategy was not so well played as its planners hoped.
