Abstract
Simple and rapid method for the determination of nitrite was developed. The method is based on the reaction of nitrite with sulfanilic acid to form a diazonium ion. The resulting solution was then introduced onto a mini column packed with D290 particles coated with 1-naphthol and reacted with 1-naphthol to form an colored anionic azo dye. The detection limit was 0.1 μg/mL and the linear range was 0.1μg/mL~10.0 μg/mL for nitrite determination. The method was applied to the determination of NO2--N in drinking water and food samples with reference color card for qualitative or semi-quantitative determination and satisfactory results were obtained.
