A summary of achievements of and enlightenment from natural gas development for the PetroChina since getting listed in the overseas market

Since being listed in the overseas market in 1999,the PetroChina has made a great progress in natural gas sector,which has become a promising main business of the company.In the past ten years,achievements have been made in the natural gas development as follows:①the accomplishment of reasonable exploitation of large or medium gas fields attributed to full pre-development assessment and studies;②a rapid increase in natural gas output by commercial production;③supporting technologies from reservoir description to gas gathering and transmission for the need of developing some complex gas reservoirs;④techniques integrated into one complete system to form four development patterns of gas reservoirs;⑤various stimulation methods taken simultaneously to improve the gas recovery of some ageing gas fields;⑥the increasingly improved management in practice to help complete a document of the Guidelines for the management of natural gas development.In addition,some enlightenment from the past practices is summarized here:①a scientific strategy and a definite goal will be a guarantee for the rapid development of natural gas;②constant attention should be paid to safety work and environmental protection owing to the particularity in the natural gas production;③a breakthrough in the studies of geological theories,an advance in exploratory technology,and a rapid increase in gas reserves will be a robust fundament for large-scale natural gas development;④technical progress and technological breakthrough will be a necessary means for speeding up the development,making full use of the producing low-grade resources,and enhancing the profit of developing the complicated gas fields;⑤the main technologies will be progressively innovated and integrated into different complete systems and various development patterns for the purpose of accelerating the commercial gas production.
