Abstract

Purpose To study the clinicopathologieal characteristics of solitary fibrous tumor in head and neck, and to elucidate its diagnosis, differential diagnosis and treatment. Methods The elinieopathologic and immunohisto- chemical characteristics were analyzed in 4 cases with solitory fibrous tumor in head and neck. Results The basic patho- logical changes of the tumor was that it consisted of collagen fibers, fibroblasts, myofibroblasts and blood vessels. The tumour cells displayed positive reaction to vimentin and endotheliocyte mark(CD34)immunohistochemical stains.Con- clusions Solitary fibrous tumor rarely occurs in head and neck.It is helpful for the diagnosis, differential diagnosis and treatment of the tumor to get the knowledge of histological type of the tumor. It is essential to excise the tumour complete- ly and to make a long-term follow-up.(Chin J Ophthalmol and Otorhinolaryngo1,2007,7:300-302)
