Abstract

Objective:To study the recovery of neural function of adult rats injured spinal cord by fetal spinal cord tissue with vascularized tissue transplantation.Method:Rat fetal spinal cord tissue with the omentum or the pedicle paraspinal muscle were transferred into the hemisection cavity at spinal cord in adult rats. After operation, combined behavioral score(CBS),somatosensory evoked potentials(SEP) and motor evoked potentials(MEP) were examined.Result:There was a statistical difference in CBS among graft group, graft with omentum group and injured group. The peak latencies of early waves in SEPs and MEPs of the graft groups were superior to those of control group( P0 05) .The fetal spinal cord tissue with the omentum transplantation showed the best result. The result of fetal spinal cord was better than the fetal spinal cord with pedicle paraspinal muscle transplantation. Conclusion:Grafts of fetal spinal cord tissues with vascularized tissue can promote the recovery of neural function of adult rat injured spinal cord.
