Study on the correlation between serum adiponectin,resistin and anomalous glucose metabolism during gestation period

Objective To investigate the correlation between serum adiponectin,resistin and anomalous glucose metabolism during gestation period in order to provide theoretical basis for diabetes screening,prediction and estimating prognosis.Methods 120 pregnant women(24～28 gestational weeks) were randomly enrolled in clinic service in the study.The pregnant women were divided into three groups:gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM) group,abnormal glucose tolerance(GIGT) group and normal glucose tolerance(NGT) group.The levels of adiponectin and resistin in serum and umbilical cord blood were detected for all the subjects.Results The levels of serum resistin in GMD group and GIGT group were significantly higher than those of NGT group,however,the levels of serum adiponectin in GMD group and GIGT group were significantly lower than those in NGT group.The levels of adiponectin in serum and umbilical cord blood in pregnant women with anomalous glucose metabolism were positively correlated with those of resistin.The levels of adiponectin in serum and umbilical cord blood in the three groups were negatively related with those of resistin.The levels of serum adiponectin in GIGT group and GDM group were negatively correlated with insulin resistance index,body mass index,fasting blood glucose and fasting insulin,however,which were positively correlated with those of resistin.Conclusion The adiponectin is one of protective factors for GDM,however,resistin can promote the pathogenesis and development of diabetes mellitus during pregnant period,and the effects of the two factors are opposite.The levels of serum adiponectin and resistin in pregnant women can affect its levels in umbilical cord blood,as a result,which can interfere with fetal intrauterine growth.
