Abstract

Objective To assess the antianginal efficacy and the acceptablility of trimetazidin(TMZ) in combination with conventional treatment in patients with stable exertional angina. Methods 20 stable angina patients were divided in- to two groups randomly,in the base of conventional treatment,TMZ 20 mg tid was given to one group, and placebo was given to the other. After 8 weeks treatment, altativing TMZ to placebo, then another 8 weeks treatment was given. Exercise test and clinical assessment were taken in the first, the eighth and the sixteenth week. Results Comparing to placebo, TMZ incresed total work load, exercise duration, time to onset of angina, time to 1mm ST segment depression, and re-duced the number of angina attacks, the mean nitrate comsumption per week, grades of exertional angina, the maxium of ST segment depression( P 0.05 ). Conclusion For patients with stable angina, TMZ combined with conventional treatment increases the exercise capacity and improve clinical.
