Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of cyclin G and p53 in gastric carcinoma and assess their relationship with biological characteristics of gastric carcinoma. Methods The SP method for immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of cyclin G and p53 protein in 42 cases of gastric carcinoma. Results The expression of cyclin G and p53 was observed in gastric carcinoma tissues with a positive rate of 69.0% and 28.6% respectively, showing a low correlativity between them. The expression of cyclin G was related to tumor stage and lymphatic metastasis. Conclusions Cyclin G and p53 may act as initiating factors of gastric carcinoma independently and mutually stimulate the generation and development of gastric carcinoma.Further research into the two genes is necessary.
