Abstract
In this paper, the Gao Zu's returning home by SUI Jing-chen was analysed in detail based on the carnivalesque theory raised by Bakhtin. The joking artifice was used to made the solemn and royal tour of inspection of the emperor's become a disordered and blackguardly popular farce, and a joking, laughy and noisy world was presented through the carnivalesque artifice-degradation;carnivalesque persona-countryman and carnivalesque laugh. But the truly understanding about the history was hidden in these carnivalesque phenomenons, which show the originality of the author.
