Rooted in mid-century humour culture and Rabelais practice of writing, Bakhtin's theory of carnivalesque contains rich comic aesthetics, presents lots of novel and particular ideas, catches the essence and soul of comic spirit, which enables carnivalesque to be a distinct feature of comedy, indicating a kind of comic spirit with strong sense of comedy. His dualistic thought and explanation on carnivalesque-styled laugh is constructive and has profundity of philosophic theory and is helpful for us to understand and catch the essence and aesthetics fuction comprehensively and dialecticly. The relativity thoughts represented in his theory of carnivalesque reveals significant features of comic thoughts.
