Abstract
Objective: To explore the phathogenesis and early monitoring criteria of severe acute pancreatitis(SAP).Methods: The level of interleukin-8(IL-8) and interleukin-12(IL-12) in peripheral blood were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) in 10 SAP patients, 18 mild acute pancreatitis(MAP) patients and 10 normal subjects (N).Results: The blood levels of IL-8 and IL-12 in SAP patients were significantly higher than those in MAP patients (P0.01), and the blood levels of IL-8 in MAP patients were significantly higher than those normal subjects(P0.01),and whereas the blood level of IL-12 was significantly lower than that of the control (P0.01),with no difference between the SAP patients and the normal subjects (P0.05). Conclusion: There were pro-and anti-inflammatory responses during the development of the acute pancreatitis. Both of results were closely related to the severity degree of the disease.
