Abstract

The conception of The Peachblossom Fan was deeply influenced by the philosophy of the Zhouyi. The characterization of the figures in the novel is based on the Way of Yin and Yang in the Zhouyi. One piece concerning factional strifes of the plots in The Peachblossom Fan is created on the basis of hexagram Ming Yi (Darkening of the Light,36). And its purport and import are deeply inspired by the thought of the Zhouyi that trifle terms conceive profound meanings.
