Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical reasons of total fertilization failure and low fertilization rate in vitro fertilization and embryo transplantation(IVF-ET).Methods Total 660 cycles undergoing IVF-ET from February 2007 to December 2008 were included in this study. They were divided into fertilization failure group consisted of 78 cases and fertilization normal group consisted of 582 cases according to fertilization rate. The femal age, duration of infertility, ovarian stimulation protocol, oocyte retrieval, rate of mature oocytes and cause of infertility between the two groups were compared. Results The rate of low fertilization was 11.82% and total fertilization failure was 47.37% in all fertilization failure group after IVF-ET.There was no difference between the femal age, duration of infertility, ovarian stimulation protocol, oocyte retrieval, rate of mature oocytes. The fertilization failure was found higher in primary infertility patients. The fertilization failure was higher in primary infertility, unexplained infertility patients and other cause infertility accompany by mild-moderate male factor. Conclusion Fertilization failure may be occurred in primary infertility, the unexplained infertility patients and other cause accompany by male factor.
