Abstract
Objective To investigate the change of periodontal state and sugar metabolism after periodontal therapy in patients with non-insulin dependent diabetes periodontits.T5HZ]Methods Methods 25 patients were selected and received non-surgical treatment.Periodontal state(including with non-insulin depeudent diabetes bleeding on probing,the depth of periodontal pocket) and glycosylated hemoglobin level were analysed before and 4 weeks and 8 weeks after treatment.Results After treatment,the symptom of bleeding on probing and probing depth were notably reduced in all patients.The glycosylated hemoglobin value in patients with advanced perodontitis was 9.01 % and 8.84 %respectively at 4 weeks and 8 weeks following therapy,while patients with moderate periodontitis showed slight changes only at 4 weeks after treatment.Conclusion The control of periodontal inflammation can improve matebolism to some extent in patients with diabetes mellitus in short term,but the long-term effect is uncertain and needs further research.
