Influence on plumonary function of children with bronchial asthma by using combination of TCM with Western Medicine

Objective To observe the effect of combined treatment of TCM and Western Medicine on the pulmonary function of children with bronchial asthma.Method 67 children with bronchial asthma were randomized into two groups:treated group and control group.Two groups were given the same amount of western drugs,the treated group received Chinese Medicine at the same time.Peak expiratory flow was monitored with peak flowmeter,and the number of times of asthmatic attack was observed.Results Pulmonary function of the treated group was remarkably increased (P0.05),while the frequency of asthmatic attack decreased obviously after combined treatment of TCM and Western Medicine for 3 months.There was significant difference in statistics,compared with the control group(P0.05).Conclusions The combined treatment of TCM and Western Medicine can not only speed up the lysis of bronchial asthma,but also improve the pulmonary function.
