Several considerations on comprehensive plan of the Dongting lake area

The Dongting lake is the second large fresh water lake in China,which is not only the production base of food grains,cotton, oil,aquatic product etc.of China,but also the important area for flood storage of the Yangtze river.Along with impoundment and operation of TGP,flood control construction after 1998 big flood and social and economic development,the situation of flood control,water resources,water ecological environment etc.have changed greatly.In order to construct healthy and harmonious Dongting lake,support and guarantee sustainable development of society and economy of the Dongting lake basin,the comprehensive plan for the Dongting lake area is needed urgently.In the light of analysis of new situation of the Dongting lake,some considerations on comprehensive plan of the Dongting lake area are suggested for discussion.
