Prospective randomized controlled study about treatment for patients with thyroid tumor by using laparoscope and patent operation

Objective: To discuss the clinical possibility and safety of laparoscopic surgery. Methods: Hyroidectomy with laparoscope was performed in 112 patients, in our hospital from December 2003 to June 2010, 56 cases underwent open surgery(control group), and 56 cases underwent laparoscopic surgery( observation group). The differences of the postoperative complications and clinical efficacy were compared. Results: The laparoscopic thyroidectomy was successfully carried out in 112 cases. No significant difference of the blood loss and postoperative complications between the two groups was observed (P0.05). The post operative hospital stay and the operative time were significantly different (P0.05). Conclusion: Laparoscopic thyroidectomy is a safe and effective method with fine cosmetic result.
