Strategies of Airway Management based on the Mechanical Ventilation Patients of Long-term

To explore airway management of long-term mechanical ventilation patients in ICU and its effect on prognosis,four patients had mechanical ventilated above 3 months since January 2006 in our ICU. We analyzed the patients’ clinical data retrospectively, summarized the experience of artificial airway management.By enhancing artificial airway management, we could sharply decrease the application of antibiotic and improve the outcome of patients. One of four patients had withdrawn the machine successfully and discharged, two are still alive and one died. It indicates that specific and effective airway management can decrease the incident of VAP and increase patients’ survival.
