Abstract

OBJECTIVE To study the metallo-β-lactamase production and antimicrobial resistance of pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from children.METHODS The VITEK-2 fast microbiol assay system of the French Meili Angstrom corporation was used to determine the identities of cultured strains from obtained samples isolated from children.Microbiol sensitivity test was performed by K-B disc method in accordance with NCCLS criteria. The producing of metallo-β-lactamase tested by synergic test.RESULTS 18.18%(36/198) metallo-β-lactamase-producing strains were identified from 198 strains of pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from children,They were resistant to piperacillin、ceftazidime、cefoperazone and levofloxacin(the strain producing metallo-β-lactamase was higher than that of not producingβ-lactamases),meanwhile,amikacin was less resistant than others,cefoperazone/sulbactam、ciprofloxacin、cefepime was partly susceptible.CONCLUSION The production of metallo-β-lactamase is one of the mechanisms of pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from children resistant to imipenem and cephems, correct detection in lab is important for application of antimicrobials and decrease of the prevalence of bacterial resistance.
