Abstract

As a method of streaming transmission technology, multicast could transmit data on network effectively. This technology could reduce the network congestion, enhance the performance of the network. This paper talked about the evolution of multimedia conference system, introduced the IP Multicast protocol, addressing of multicast, and the transmission and reception of multicast IP datagram, put forward a method to improve on PIM-SM (one of multicast routing protocol).
