Abstract

Because of the increase in life expectancy and in diabetic nephropathy incidence, renal diseases will bring great challenge to the society. Fractalkine(now also called CX3CL1)is a unique CX3C-chemokine that functions not only as a chemoattractant but also as an adhesion molecule. CX3CR1 is the specific receptor for fractalkine. The study and research about fractalkine in renal diseases have made much progress. This review will focus on fractalkine in renal diseases.
