Abstract
Objective To investigate the level of job satisfaction and turnover intention,and analyze the relationship between them among clinical nurses.Method A stratified randomized sampling method was used to recruit 515 nurses from 12 hospitals in Changsha.A questionnaire survey was conducted with the Index of Work Satisfaction(IWS) and the Scale of Turnover Intention.Results The scores of the six dimensions of job satisfaction were ranked at a descending order as follow:interaction and cooperation,professional status,autonomy,organizational policy,task requirement and pay.The mean score of turnover intention was(2.58±0.32) points.There was a negative relationship between the six dimensions of job satisfaction and turnover intention(P0.01).Turnover intention was explained by 21.10% with pay,professional status,task requirement and autonomy.Among which,the satisfaction of pay played the most important role.Conclusion Nursing administrators should pay close attention to nurses' job satisfaction and therefore reduce nurses' turnover intention.
