Abstract

Objective: To investigate the quo status of job satisfaction in clinical nurses and to explore the effect of job satisfaction on their turnover intention.Methods: Nine hundred and forty-four registered nurses in seven hospitals in Guangzhou were investigated by using four questionnaires.The status of job satisfaction and turnover intention and the relationship between them in clinical nurses were analyzed.Results: The total score of job satisfaction in clinical nurses was(127.35±15.25) points.The average scores of six dimensions in job satisfaction were cooperation,occupational station,autonomy,organization decision-making,work load and income in turn.The average scores of different dimensions in turnover intention were the possibility of obtaining other jobs,the intention for other jobs and possibility of resignation in turn.The status of job satisfaction was negatively related to turnover intention.Conclusion: The status of job satisfaction in clinical nurses was low.Among the dimensions,income satisfaction level was the lowest while cooperation level was the highest.The higher the job satisfaction in nurses were,the lower the turnover intention were.It is very important to stabilize nurses staff by distributing their incomes reasonably and improving their job satisfaction level.
