A Study on Prevalence and Influencing Factors of Hypertension among Residents in Cixi

Objective To explore the prevalence status and influencing factors of hypertension among residents in Cixi and to provide scientific basis for devising new tactics that prevent and control hypertension.Methods A cross-sectional study,including questionnaire survey,physical examination and blood specimen collection,was conducted among 1147 adult residents selected with multistage stratified cluster random sampling.Results The prevalence rate of hypertension in this population was 24.67%(27.54% in male and 21.83% in female).Logistic regression analysis revealed the related factors were advanced age(OR = 1.49),low educational level(OR = 0.56),family history of hypertension(OR = 2.10),alcohol drinking(OR = 1.65),overweight or obesity(OR = 1.17).Conclusion The prevalence rate of hypertension in Cixi is quite higher.Measures are needed to be taken for high-risk population for prevention and control.
