Treatment of chronic sinusitis with endoscopic sinus surgery in elderly patients

Abstract

Objective To study the treatment effect of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) in elderly patients with chronic sinusitis. Methods 125 patients above 60 years age with chronic sinusitis were treated by endoscopic sinus surgery. Results 125 patients were interviewed with a follow-up of six months to one year post-operatively.Based on the assessment standards,theⅠ～Ⅲ type effect had a decreased tendency,and the 3rd of Ⅱ stage and the Ⅲ stage effects were poor. Conclusion Endoscopic sinus surgery is effective for elderly patients with chronic sinusitis,its efficacy is closely related with clinical classification of the stage.
