Abstract
Based on the surveyed data in the sea area outside the Zhanjiang Bay in Dec., 2001, the eutrophication situation and the phytoplankton diversity etc. in the sea area were analyzed. The results showed that the level of eutrophication decreased from north to south and from inshore to offshore; the diversity index of phytoplankton increased from north to south, the quality of water was good in the southeast and bad in the northeast; the diversity index of phytoplankton was badly related to the content of nutrient and the level of eutrophication. And the reason for influencing connection between the phytoplankton diversity and the level of eutrophication is that the radio of N to P was out of balance.
