Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between expression of E cadherin and PCNA in HCC. Methods Expression of E cadherin and PCNA was detected immunohistochemically in paraffin imbedded specimens of 49 HCC. Results 28 (57 14%) of the 49 HCC showed reduced E cadherin expression, 21(42 86%) showed normal E cadherin expression. 23 (48 97%) of the 49 HCC showed high PCNA expression, 26 (51 03%) showed low PCNA expression. Significant correlation was found between E cadherin and PCNA expression ( P 0.05). Conclusions Normal E cadherin expression may have inhabitive effect on cell proliferation of HCC, reduced E cadherin expression can promote cell proliferation, but the effection is incomplete.
