Quality evaluation and improvement for Basic Sciences Journal of Textile Universities

By using biblimetric method,the papers published in Basic Sciences Journal of Textile Universities during 2003～2008 are analyzed,and the journal quality is comprehensively evaluated.The quality gap between the journal and another 2 journals,which sponsored by 211 universities is comparatively studied from the aspects of number of published papers,papers supported by foundation items and authors background.Finally,the way of improvement are put forward in order to provide some suggestions for the editors of the journal.In 6 years,623 papers have been published in Basic Sciences Journal of Textile Universities totally,and each paper covers 4.03 pages on average.Average foundation items for papers are 73.35%(number of foundation items/total number of papers),average provincial foundation items is 53.45%.365 mathematical papers have been published,account for 58.59%.On the contrast,there are only 7 mechanical papers have been published,account for 1.12%.The first authors of 135 papers are the teachers and students in Xi′an Polytechnic University,account for 21.67%.The first authors of 457 papers are in Shaanxi province,account for 73.35%.The co-authored papers account for 72.07% of the total published papers,and the mean cooperation rate is 2.24.During 2003～2004,39 papers are graduate dissertation,account for 19.80%,12 papers are PhD thesis,account for 6.09%,150 papers′ authors own middle or senior professional title.Until now,the journal is embodied in 11 index systems at home and abroad,of which 4 kinds of domestic and 7 kinds of foreign.The results show that the gap of the journal′s quality is due to a larger proportion of master′s papers,the small proportion of papers with foundation items,and it has not been embodied by authoritative index system at home and abroad.
