Application of Inverse Pendulum Assembly for Deviation Control and Rapid Drilling in Jiangsu Oilfield

Abstract

Jiangsu Oilfield was a complex small fault block reservoir,in which there existed inclination in the vertical section,low penetration rate.In conventional pendulum assembly the rate of penetration and drilling efficiency were sacrificed for deviation control.The mechanism of inverse pendulum drill-tool assembly the deviation control and rapid drilling and influential factors of force applied on drill strings were summarized.The effect of stabilizer location and size on the inverse pendulum assembly was introduced.Its application in Jiangsu Oilfield was analyzed,contrasted with the nearby wells without using the assembly in same section.The result shows that the inverse pendulum assembly can solve the bottleneck problem of deviation control and rapid drilling,give full play to the attacking drill,improve work efficiency,shorten the drilling cycle,integrate the vertical drilling with rapid drilling.It provides a guidance for deviation control and improve the quality of wellbore.
