How to Develop English Majors' Practical Ability in Vocational Colleges

The author suggests that in vocational colleges English majors' practical ability be developed according to the following principles: the English teaching aim is set in accordance with the future career;English teaching is done under the guidance of foreign language acquisition theories,especially language skills and practical ability being integrated;students are the active learners;modern teaching facilities are made full use of;practice teaching and ability developing should be given more attention to with training methods being improved;and the assessment methods should be adjusted to highlight practical ability.
