On the Cultural Implication of Fang Fang's Novels

Fang Fang is a famous novelist in the Chinese contemporary literary circles. It has been the last word that she was classified by reporters new realistic representative. At the same time, Fang Fang's novels contain profound and abundant cultural implication. In her classic work scenery whose theme is about citizens, cultural characteristics reflected by shanty district living environment are shown, i.e., the culture of ruffian. Her works Grandfather at Father's Heart, Chronicle of Lake Wuni etc. which take intellects as their theme, reflect the ages environment to cast cultural shadow to the intellects. In her works My Beginning is My End and The light of fire, which talk about love and marriage, display the city and village females' living predicament under the cultural environment in the contemporary commercial ages. The author of this paper probes primarily into cultural implication of Fang Fang's novels of different kinds of themes in order to understand further its cultural value in contemporary Chinese literary circles.
