Abstract
Viscoelastic damper is a kind of efficient passive control device for suppressing vibration and dissipating energy. Design method of viscoelastic dampers for structural seismic control is studied in this paper. According to the properties of viscoelastic dampers, optimal damper placement is given. Effects of suppressing vibration for different locations of viscoelastic dampers are compared. A convenient and pratical method about choosing parameters and locations of viscoelastic dampers is proposed for structural engineers.
