Abstract

[Objective] To study the clinical implication of VEGF-C in breast cancer. [Methods] immunohistochemical PV 9 000 techique was adopted in detecting the VEGF-C protein expression in 50 cases of breast cancer. [Result] Positive immunohistochemical staining for VEGF-C protein was observed in 33 of all patients, the positive ratio was 66%. The VEGF-C antigen was identified in the cytoplasm of breast cancer cells. The expression of VEGF-C was conspicuously higher in lymph-node-positive group than in lymph-node-negative group. There was no statistically significant difference between the expression of VEGF-C and pathologic features, tumor size and clinical stage. [Conclusions] There was clinical significance between VEGF-C expressions and lymph-node metastasis in breast cancer. VEGF-C high expressions may be the predictive markers of poor prognosis also.
