ANALYSIS ON MENTAL HEALTH STATUS AND PERSONALITY OF POOR MEDICAL FRESHMEN

[Objective] To understand mental health status and personality of poor medical freshmen and to provide basis for mental health education. [Methods] 527 poor and 782 non-poor medical freshmen were investigated by SCL-90 and MMPI. [Results] The scores of scl-90 factor of poor medical freshmen such as obsessive-compulsive,interpersonal sensitivity and depression were significantly higher than those of non-poor students. The other scores of scl-90 factor were obviously higher than the norm except somatization. Poor medical freshmen had higher scores in D,Pd,Ma and Si of MMPI than those of non-poor medical freshmen. Hs,Hy,Pd,Mf,Pt,Ma and Si of MMPI were obviously higher than the norm. [Conclusion] Poor medi-cal freshmen have mental health and personality problems when they enter university. We should strengthen their education of mental health and cultivate perfect personality in order to improve their psychological qualities.
