Abstract
Objective To investigate the predictive value of serum copeptin on the severity of coronary lesions and prognosis in patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS). Methods From September 2010 to May 2011,112 patients with ACS in Shanghai East Hospital affiliated to Tongji University were recruited. The serum levels of copeptin and high sensitive troponin T(hsTNT) were detected in all patients at 3,6,12 and 24 h after the onset of chest pain.Coronary angiography was performed in all patients and the major adverse cardiovascular events(MACE) were recorded during the 10-12 months follow-up. Results Serum copeptin levels in patients with single-vessel,double-vessel and three-vessel disease were(0.46±0.13) μg/L,(0.74±0.32) μg/L and(1.23±0.43) μg/L,respectively.And serum copeptin levels in patients with coronary Gensini score 20,≥20 and 40,and ≥40 were(0.43±0.17) μg/L,(0.59±0.18) μg/L and(1.08±0.42) μg/L,respectively.All the serum copeptin levels in patients were significantly higher than in normal controls [(0.37±0.62)μg/L,all P0.05].Correlation analysis showed that serum copeptin level was positively correlated with the severity of coronary artery lesion and Gensini score(r=0.729 and 0.659,both P0.001).During the follow-up,21 cardiovascular events occurred, and patients with events had significantly higher copeptin level than those without [(0.82±0.34)μg/L vs.(0.39±0.13)μg/L,P0.001] 24 hours after onset of chest pain. Conclusions Serum copeptin level is positively correlated with the severity of coronary artery lesion and has prognostic value in patients with ACS.
