Abstract
Water repellent and dirt-proofing agent JB-170 (Jiabao, Shanghai ) was used to make cotton fa-brics water-repellent. Expts. were carried out by varying the process parameters. The optimal meters were obtained by analyzing the results: finishing agent concn. at 30 g/L, melamine concn. at 20 g/L, catalyst concn. at 2 g/L, finishing liquor temp. at 30 ℃, drying 3 min at 120 ℃ and baking 3 min at 150 ℃. The finished fabrics had good water repellency (rate 90 initially and 70 after 20 cycles of water washing). The results showed that the repellent had excellent water repellency and a certain degree of washing resistance.
