Abstract
The intellectuals in the May Fourth Movement had an obvious identity crisis over China and Western world,as well as traditional and modern societies.The identity crisis mainly focused on indetification,culture,and thought.The social identity theory is one of the most powerful theories in the research on group relationships.Aim at the menace of social identity,scholars put forward several strategies to resolve identity crisis based on the theory.With the view of social identity theory,the intelectuals in the May fourth Movement took the two strategies such as breaking the majority and changing the majority,which turned out to be successful.
