Abstract

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of clear lens phacoemulsification and implantation of intraocular lens for correcting high myopia. Methods Clear lens phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation were performed on 21 cases(37 eyes)of high myopia. The complications and visual acuity were observed. The follow-up time was 6~18 months, meanly 12 months. Results The postoperative naked visual acuity was less than 0.2 in 1 eye,0.2~0.5 in 3 eyes,0.5~0.9 in 32 eyes and over 1.0 in 1 eye.The postoperative corrected visual acuity was 0.2~0.5 in 2 eyes,0.5~0.9 in 28 eyes and over 1.0 in 7 eyes. Both the naked and the corrected visual acuity were higher than the preoperated ones.Posterior capsular opacity was found in 4 eyes.Retinal detachment and macular edema were not observed. Conclusion Together with detailed preoperative examination and skillful surgery technique, clear lens extraction and intraocular lens implantation for the treatment of high myopia can be a safe and effective method.
