Effects of Different Water Extracts from Solidago canadensis L.on Seed Germination and Growth of Different Crops

The germination rates were determined for the seeds of wheat, barley, corn, rice, tomato and rape treated with various water extracts which were got from the rhizome and leaves of Solidago canadensis by two different ways, and the growth increments were tested for the seedlings of wheat, corn and rice. The results showed that all the water extracts obviously had inhibiting action on the germination of the six crop seeds and the seedling growth of wheat, corn and rice, and the difference between treatments was significant. Different concentrations of the water extract from rhizome and leaves of Solidago canadensis had different effects on the growth of corn. The higher the concentration, the greater the effect is, and there was a significant difference between different concentration treatments.
