Abstract

The color reaction of rutin with iron(Ⅲ) was studied. In the presence of hydrochloric acid solution, rutin can reacts with iron(Ⅲ)to form a stable 3∶1 complex. The malor absorptivity is 1.38×10 4 L/mol·cm at 590 nm.Beer's law is obeyed in range of 0~50 μg/25 mL.This method can be applied to the determination of iron in tobacco with satisfactory results.
