Abstract
The impacts on the sediment deposition at Chongqing Reach before and after the construction of the reservoirs at the Jinsha River are studied by two-dimensional flow and sediment model. The results show that under the condition of no reservoirs at the Jinsha River, the accumulated sediment deposition will increase in the initial using period of the Three Gorges Reservoir; and navigation problems maybe occur in local shoals with the increase of the using time of the reservoir. Under the condition of construction of reservoirs at the Jinsha River, erosion will be occurred at the main channel of Chongqing Reach; but the sediment deposition at Jinshaqi shoal is similar with that under the condition of no reservoirs.
