Abstract

Objective:To analyze and summarize the DSA and CT manifestations of moyamoys disease in 17 patients.Materials and Method:DSA and CT scanning were performed in 17 cases,14 of them were scanned with high resolution helical CT and five were performed with thin-sliced enhanced CT scanning.Result:According to the criteria established by national committee of the study of moyamoya disease sponsored by the ministry of Health and Welfare of Japan, among 17 cases,16 were confirmed as moyamoya, and one was suspected. The lesions were characterized as the stenosis of internal carotid arteries(ICA) and as the occlusion of anterior cerebral arteries(ACA) and middle cerebral arteries(MCA).Moyamoya vessles were mainly seen in the region of basal ganglia. In advanced stage these vessles could also be seen on the top of the orbit or in the other part of brain, but in some cases these vessles can be invisible in the region of basal ganglia. Conclusion:It is not characteristic in CT scanning. In enhanced CT images, lack of normal vessles or appearance of abnormal vessles will help in diagnosing moyamoya.
