Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of Telbivudine on patients with chronic severe hepatitis B.Methods Forty-five chronic severe hepatitis B patients were divided into Telbivudine group(24 cases) and Lamivudine group(21 cases). The changes of biochemical markers, levels of HBV-DNA and viral resistance were observed at the different time points after antiviral treatment. Results In Telbivudine group, the level of ALT,albumin, total bilirubin and PTA improved after treatment(P0.01).The level of HBV-DNA reduced at 2,4,12,24 and 48 weeks,respectively(P0.05);The negative rate of serum HBV-DNA were 90.91%(20/22),95.45%(21/22) and the rates of HBeAg/anti-HBe seroconversion were 21.05%(4/19),36.84%(7/19) at 24,48 weeks, respectively;mutation of YMDD was 4.17%(1/24).The mean decline of serum HBV-DNA at 2,4 and 48 weeks, the negative rate of serum HBV-DNA at 24 and 48 weeks were higher in Telbivudine group than those in Lamivudine group(P0.05).Conclusion The results indicate that Telbivudine can rapily and effectively inhibit the rellication HBV,and significantly improve liver function in patients with chronic severe hepatitis B.
