Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of telbivudine treatment on patients with chronic hepatitis B. Methods Total of 160 patients were randomly divided into treatment group (80 cases) and control group (80 cases),who were given telbivudine and lamivudine for 24 weeks, respectively. Results HBV DNA undetectable rate of patients treated with telbivudine for 4,12 and 24 weeks were significantly higher than that in control group (P 0.01). HBeAg undetectable rate and ALT normalization rate of treatment group after 12 and 24 weeks were significantly higher than that in control group (P 0.05). After 24 weeks of treatment, complete response rate of treatment group was significantly higher than that in control group (P 0.05),non-response rate of treatment group was significantly lower than that in control group (P 0.05).The adverse reaction rate of two groups were 10% and 15%,which were not statistically significant (P 0.05). Conclusions Telbivudine can effectively inhibit replication of hepatitis B virus and improve undetectable rate of HBV DNA and HBeAg,also promote normalization rate of ALT. In addition, telbivudine treatment is safe and well tolerant.
