Clinical analysis of tracheobronchial foreign bodies:a report of 206 cases

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics,experiences and lessons of tracheobronchial foreign bodies in patients.Methods The clinical data of 206 cases admitted between January 2002 and June 2005 were retrospectively analyzed.Results The foreign bodies were varied and mainly were plants.The foreign bodies were expectorated during anti-inflammatory observation in seven cases(3.4%),and were taken in 5 cases by rigid bronchoscopy and tracheotomy and in 194 cases by rigid bronchoscopy.Conclusion Tracheobronchial foreign bodies can be diagnosed by the history of aspiration,typical clinical features and accessory examination,and could be successfully taken out by operation according to the type and position of foreign body.
