Clinical study of tracheobronchial foreign bodies in Children

Objective To discuss clinical characteristics,diagnosis,and treatment of tracheobronchial foreign bodies in children.Methods A retrospective study of 150 cases of tracheobronchial foreign bodies in children was performed.The age of the children,history of foreign body ingestion,kind and location of foreign bodies,diagnosis and treatment were analyzed.Results Two patients died,and bronchoscopic examination and foreign body removal were successfully conducted in the other 148 cases under general anaesthesia.No complications happened during and after operation,and all the 148 cases left hospital after they were cured.Conclusion Tracheobronchial foreign bodies in children should be diagnosed and removed as soon as possible in order to reduce mortality.
