Abstract

China was defeated in Opium War which broke out in 1840 between China and England. There are a lot of reasons, but the major reason is that the army of Qing dynasty escaped in disorder when they were fighting on the battlefield. The article tries to analyze the reasons leading to the escape of the army of Qing Dynasty from several aspects such as military discipline?military ethos?the psychology of generals and soldiers etc.
