Abstract
The characteristics of geography and the global environmental problems show that it is very important to strengthen environmental education in the teaching of geography.This paper analyses the basic connotation and the evolvement of the concept of environmental education,and discusses the three approaches of environmental education in the teaching of geography according to the features of geographical science and current educational reform: about environment,by environment and for environment.
