Abstract
During the Ming and Qing dynasties, people in coastal areas of Guangdong and Fujian moved to Taiwan on a large scale. This was caused by various social, political and economic factors, including frequent natural disasters, repeated wars, lack of land, attractive rumors, calling for tenants, etc. But it was also on account of emigrants' brave and adventurous character.According to their initial motivations,we can divide people migrating to Taiwan into two types: emigrants who sought to survive and emigrants who invested for a profit.
